Kate studied forest conservation at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. She worked as a stream biologist, studying crayfish in Pacific Northwest, before moving the UK to pursue further studies in environmental policy at the University of Oxford. She spent a number of years based in the UK, working with global clients on policy implementation for use of sustainable natural resources. In 2012 she moved to DC to join the IFC standards team, specializing in agricultural supply chains.
